Day 1: Friday or Sunday - Heathrow–Nairobi
Fly from Heathrow overnight to Nairobi.
Day 2: Saturday or Monday - Aberdares
On arrival transfer to the Safari Lounge, where you
can freshen up and store any additional luggage before
departing for Aberdares and to the Outspan Hotel (180 kms).
After lunch an opportunity to relax or an afternoon nature
walk with the resident naturalist (weather permitting).
Overnight: Outspan Hotel (lunch and dinner included).
Day 3: Sunday or Tuesday - Samburu
Drive north across the equator to the Samburu National
Reserve and check in to your lodge for lunch. Afternoon
game drive. Overnight: Ashnil Samburu Camp (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 4: Monday or Wednesday - Samburu
Morning and late afternoon game drives in this open
savannah which is traversed by the Ewaso Nyiro River. The
river is populated by hippos and crocodiles, whilst the park is
home to a host of animals including several species which
are rarely seen in numbers elsewhere,
including Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffes
and long-necked gerenuks. Overnight:
Ashnil Samburu Camp (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 5: Tuesday or Thursday - Aberdares
Drive to the slopes of Mount Kenya and
check in to Mountain Lodge (240 km)
where lunch has been arranged. Spend the
afternoon viewing game from the lodge or
join a nature walk (weather permitting) led
by a local guide. Overnight: Serena
Mountain Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 6: Wednesday or Friday - Lake Nakuru–Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, descend into the Great Rift Valley and
continue on to Lake Nakuru for lunch and an afternoon
game drive. Continue to Lake Naivasha. Overnight: Lake
Naivasha Simba Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 7: Thursday or Saturday -
Masai Mara
Drive to the Masai Mara National Reserve (320 km). An
afternoon game drive. Overnight: Ashnil Mara Camp (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 8: Friday or Sunday - Masai Mara
Enjoy an early morning balloon flight over the Mara,
followed by a 'bubbly' bush breakfast (optional extra –
£275), or an early morning game drive followed by breakfast
at the lodge. After lunch, at leisure with time to relax by the
pool. Late afternoon game drive. Overnight: Ashnil Mara
Camp (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 9: Saturday or Monday - Zanzibar
Return to Nairobi (300 km), then transfer to the airport for
your onward flight to Zanzibar. On arrival, transfer to your
chosen beach hotel for your required duration. Prices below are based on The Neptune Pwani Resort, staying on an All Inclusive basis. A full range of other hotels, and other durations, are also available.
Day 15: Friday or Sunday - Return
Transfer back
to the
airport for the return flight to Heathrow, travelling via
Nairobi.
Option to fly from the Mara to Nairobi - from £190
Flights are in light aircraft and the baggage allowance
is strictly 15 kg per person. Where possible, additional
luggage can be left at your hotel or at the
Safari Lounge in Nairobi and retrieved after the safari.
