DAY 1 Fly Virgin Atlantic to Havana and transfer to the Hotel Nacional de Cuba in a Standard room.
DAY 2 Time at leisure to explore Cuba’s vibrant capital which is steeped in rich colonial history. You may choose to discover the beautiful baroque architecture of San Cristobal cathedral or explore the pretty square of Plaza de Armas which is surrounded by grand buildings and boasts an antique book market. Enjoy a coffee at one of the many cafes or simply relax under the shade of a tree and watch the world go by.
DAY 3 Fly from Havana to Baracoa and spend two nights in a Standard room at Villa Baracoa (which is comprised of El Castillo and Porto Santo), set on the very eastern tip of the island. Baracoa is an enchanting area of natural beauty. During your stay visit the Matchin Fortress, discover the spectacular scenery surrounding Finca Duaba. The following day includes a boat ride in a cayuka (native boat) and lunch at Rio Toa with a visit around a cocoa plantation.
DAY 5 Transfer to Santiago de Cuba (132 miles), for two nights at the Melia, Santiago de Cuba hotel in a Standard room. In a stunning location, between the mountains of the Sierra Maestra and the waters of the Caribbean, Santiago de Cuba is the island’s second largest city and home to many of Cuba’s famous musical traditions. The city was also central to the revolution which you will learn about on a city tour which includes a visit to the Castillo de Morro – an old Spanish fort with incredible views across the bay. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and after dinner at your hotel the evening is at leisure. Next day transfer to La Gran Piedra, climb the 400 or so steps and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Visit the botanical gardens and the ruins of a coffee plantation at La Isabelica museum. Lunch is included at a local restaurant.
DAY 7 Head north to the relaxed beaches of Guardalavaca (125 miles) for a relaxing four night stay at the five star luxury Paradisus Rio de Oro in a Standard junior suite. With its fabulous spa it is perfect for luxury relaxation after your touring time. Whilst in Guardalavaca you may wish to choose from a selection of wonderful excursions and explore the rich history of the town.
DAY 11 Return by air from Guardalavaca, Holguin to Havana for a final night at the Nacional de Cuba in a Standard room or choose from our selection of Havana hotels.
DAY 12 Return flight with Virgin Atlantic arriving into Gatwick the next day.
This tour is escorted by a local
guide from Day 3 to Day 7.
Beach extensions and time in
Havana are not escorted but
assistance is provided in each
destination by our local
representative.
