| DAY
1 Overnight flight from Heathrow with Eva Air to Bangkok
and onwards with Bangkok Airways to Siem Reap. On arrival you will
be met and transferred to the medium class Tara Angkor for three
nights. Siem Reap is the gateway to the temples of Angkor, hidden
deep in the jungle for many years this incredible complex was once
the capital of the mighty Khmer Kingdom that stretched across much
of the region. You may decide to explore the temples on our full
day or two day tour taking in Angkor Thom, The Bayon, the Elephant
Terrace and the incredible Angkor Wat. Alternatively, for the more
energetic, we offer the chance to explore the ruins by mountain
bike. As well as the temples of Angkor there is much more to discover
in the area and we recommend our half day tour visiting Tonle Sap
lake, the tour offers an insight into traditional life, visiting
small fishing villages built on stilts over the lake. There is also
the opportunity to spot the incredible array of waterfowl and other
birdlife that inhabit the area’s wetlands.
DAY 5 Fly
approximately 50 minutes southeast on Siem Reap Airways to Cambodia’s
capital city, Phnom Penh. On arrival transfer to the Sunway Hotel for your next three nights. Situated on the banks
of the Mekong River the city retains a degree of serenity compared
to many of Asia’s capitals. Explore the city on our optional
City Tour which takes you to the splendid Wat Phnom, the Royal Palace,
Wat Ounalom, the National Museum, the Russian Market and the notorious
Tuol Sleng detention centre, a painful reminder of the crimes committed
by the Khmer Rouge government in the 1970s. A delightful choice
in the evening is to take our Sunset Cruise aboard Le Deauville
II along the majestic Mekong River as the sun sets.
DAY 8 Depart
Phnom Penh this morning with Bangkok Airways to Bangkok, connecting
onwards to London Heathrow with Eva Air.
