This itinerary only operates during the dry season months of May to October as the camps are
inaccessible in the rainy season due to the flood levels of the river. Kafue National Park is home
to an abundance of hippo which are to be found in the shallow pools that are left as the water
recedes in the dry season.
SUGGESTED ITINERARY
Day 1 Monday Heathrow – Lusaka
Overnight flight to Lusaka from Heathrow via
Johannesburg (plane change).
Day Tuesday 2 Northern Kafue
Met on arrival in Lusaka where you will be assisted to
your connecting flight by light aircraft to Kafue National
Park (approximately 1 hour 10 minutes). You will enjoy
an afternoon game activity. Overnight: Lufupa Tented
Camp. (lunch and dinner included)
Day 3 Wednesday Northern Kafue
Today you have the day to explore the surroundings and
spot the wide variety of wildlife in the area including
zebras, buffaloes and hippos. You can enjoy open
vehicle game drives, boat cruises and walking safaris.
Overnight: Lufupa Tented Camp. (breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 4 Thursday Northwestern Kafue
After the early morning game drive depart for Musanza
(approximately 2 hours). Your camp is located south of
the Busanga Plains within Kafue National Park. This
camp offers a traditional camping feel, bringing you
close to nature whilst still offering stylish and
comfortable accommodation. Enjoy an afternoon game
activity. Overnight: Musanza Tented Camp. (breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 5 Friday Northwestern Kafue
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives with plenty
of opportunities to view the dominant antelope species
in this area, along with a wide variety of birdlife
including large flocks of pelicans and crowned cranes
that inhabit the plains. Overnight: Musanza Tented
Camp. (breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 6 Saturday Northern Kafue
After the early morning game drive depart for the drive
to Busanga Plains (approximately 2 hours). This is one of
Zambia’s most significant wetlands and one of the few
areas that is unspoilt by human development. A big
attraction for predators, including wild dogs, cheetahs
and prides of lions. Enjoy an afternoon game activity.
Overnight: Busanga Bush Camp. (breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 7 Sunday Northern Kafue
Enjoy daytime as well as night game drives around
the camp which is perfectly situated for some of the
best lion viewing in Africa. Overnight: Busanga Bush
Camp. (breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 8 Monday Northern Kafue
After the early morning game drive depart for the
drive back to Lufupa (approximately 4 hours). Enjoy
an afternoon game drive. Overnight: Lufupa Tented
Camp. (breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Day 9 Tuesday Northern Kafue–Heathrow
After an early breakfast enjoy a short game drive
en route to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight
to Lusaka airport (approximately 1 hour 10 minutes)
in time to connect with your onward travel
arrangements, or your overnight flight to Heathrow via
Johannesburg. (breakfast included)
